CJD

Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD) is a rare and fatal degenerative brain disorder. CJD is a prion disease and there are four main types: 

  • Sporadic CJD: the most common type, the precise cause is unclear
  • Variant CJD: caused by consuming BSE-infected beef
  • Familial or inherited CJD
  • Iatrogenic CJD
